Accupuncture during pregnancy

Dr. Shao Lei works out of HuaShan Hospital and he is absolutely fabulous. In your later stages of pregnancy, he'll travel to you if you are in Puxi. Mamas have used him for morning sickness, sciatic nerve problems, etc. 6248-9999 x6592 (the foreign floor extension at HuaShan where he works).

Cord Blood Banking information (in China)

Per Dr Michelle Lu-Ferguson at Parkway Healthcare: China has very strict rule of cord blood banking. I was at the meeting with a CBR  representative from the USA, a famous cord blood company in US.  She was told that it is impossible for them to come to CHina to do the biz. As for IVF license, government controls strictly.  The government just won't give any permission to anyone other than SH cord blood bank. Hopefully, it will change in a few years.  If you would like to get in touch with the Shanghai Cord Blood bank, click here .  Unfortunately at this time, they do not have a dedicated English speaking help line.  If you are being seen through Parkway Health, you can contact the OB assitant manager, Erica Luo and she can coordinate contact with the cord blood bank to get questions answered, etc.  Otherwise, contact your current provider and they may be able to assist you with contacting the cord blood bank on your behalf. 

Update (8/23/08): There may be a possibility that SH Cord blood bank can arrange with a cord blood banking facility in your home country to ship the cord blood sample back to your home country.  You will have to do your own research on what banking facilities are in your home country and then ask them if they are willing to accept a cord blood shipment from China.   It is doubtful that they will guarantee this shipment since it will not be their original packaging, but worth checking in to. 

Infant Massage therapists:
Grace Leong Certified infant massage instructor from the IAIM  (International Association for Infant Massage ), HQ in Sweden.  I have been teaching baby massage to parents for a while in Shanghai.  Infant Massage is a wonderful relaxing agent for both the mother and the baby. It can start as early as 3 weeks old and it can help to relieve colic pain, constipation and the baby can sleep better.  Best of all, it is fun and a great bonding time for the parent with the child. For group lesson, it will last for 1 hour . There will be a total of  4 sessions and the total cost is 800rmb per baby.  For individual class, it will be 2 sessions of 1 and 1/2 hour each and cost a total of 800 rmb...of course it will be at your convenient place and time. Please arrange separately with me.  Group classes in both Pudong and Puxi are available in September and October.

Independent Pharmacy
